HEAD CANONS
QUIRK: I really like tumblr user transhawks' take on it here. Things that I agree with:
- "He can control each feather with his mind. He, presumably has hundreds of feathers, at least."
- "Besides splitting his attention a hundred ways... Hawks can hear and feel vibrations through each feather. That at means at once he can feel and hear through each feather, and that’s happening hundreds of times through his mind, all the time. Furthermore, it’s clear his hearing is something wicked! He can hear heartbeats."
- "Hawks’s true ‘OPness’ lies in how he’s basically the ultimate sensor and how, despite having to deal with what seems like an extreme amount of over-stimulation and information overload, his reflexes are still that crazy. He’s extremely quick despite reacting to hundreds of different sounds and feelings at once." In my mind, this is why he wears headphones/earmuffs what have you as part of his uniform. He already gets a ton of sensory input, and this is to help him not get overstimulated, particularly in a battle situation or crowded place.

This is the only other physical 'bird quirk' that my Hawks has - raptor eyes that can see quite far away in vivid detail by acting like binoculars, which is again, a reason the HSPC wanted to recruit him as the ultimate spy.
- I play his wings as a very sensitive body part. Given that they are sooo hyper sensitive to information that he can pick up on people's conversations, I think it only makes sense. But like any bird, the bones that support them are pliable and not super delicate.
PSYCHOLOGY: Work in progress (I'm tired). He's just a birb.
GROOMING: Hawks' predecessor was recruited as a teenager, likely around 14-15, and she went on to rebel against them. My headcanon is that they decided specifically to aim for someone younger - young enough that they had not developed a sense of self yet, which means that Hawks' is intrinsically tied to the HPSC (Hero Public Safety Commission), and he finds it difficult, if not impossible, to conceptualize life outside of it or without it. He's been trained for espionage since he was a child, as well as to become the HSPC's plant in the hero population, their 'model hero'. Everything about his image has been cultivated and controlled by them over the years, from his costume (he added the coat and the muffs) to his finances (he does not make his 'own' money - the HPSC 'provides' him what he asks for as a measure of control).
THE HPSC CAGE: Hawks is constantly monitored, and has been his whole life. He has very few concessions to real freedom, which includes a modest apartment that he keeps off the books as his own secret place. His phone calls and texts are likely constantly monitored, and he is no doubt aware of it.
SEXUALITY: I tend to play Hawks as someone who was forced to repress his attraction to men because of the image that the HPSC wanted him to cultivate. His fanbase is primarily women, and it was important that he could climb the charts in popularity, so his sex appeal was used to help facilitate that. I think he has a strong preference for men, if not being only attracted to them, but he might not even understand that fully about himself yet. I'm open to playing him as more pansexual for certain verses as well, which is closer to how he probably views himself in my opinion.
SEXUAL/ROMANTIC EXPERIENCE: My Hawks has extremely little romantic or sexual experience despite his flirtatious exterior. He's used to being surveilled almost every minute of his life, and even when he's not, he's too paranoid about anything he does compromising his carefully crafted image. He's likely never had sex, but will definitely try to act like that's not true. He's had no relationships that weren't something like a passing crush. Because of all this, he's extremely repressed and does not know how to have a trusting sexual OR romantic relationship, so kink is appealing to him because it plays at trust dynamics without requiring him to be vulnerable in other ways.
KINKS: All of these are highly dependent on the partner and the nature of the relationship/how healthy or toxic it is. Degradation/praise combination is the strongest one for him.
